Phantom Airborne at 21,500 FT This photo captures the moment just before history was made. In 1998, Phantom Airborne Brigade set the world record for the highest static line parachute jump, exiting the aircraft at a staggering 21,500 feet. Geared up and grounded in legacy, these warriors defied altitude, cold, and oxygen deprivation to prove that the Airborne spirit knows no limits

Above It All

21,500 Feet suspended over the Gulf of Mexico, this rare in-flight shot captures a Phantom Airborne paratrooper mid-descent from an altitude of 21,500 feet — at the time, this was the highest static line parachute jump in history. Executed in 1998, the jump took over 30 minutes of free-floating descent through thin, freezing air. Every paratrooper landed within a half-mile of each other, a precision feat that matched the magnitude of the mission. No GPS. No high-tech nav systems. Just discipline, training, and raw airborne grit. With nothing but silk overhead and legacy at their backs, they redefined what it means to be Airborne.
